What is Yoga ?
Yoga is not just about being on the mat or being on a comfy cushion. It’s about learning a way to have clarity in your daily life.
By feeling the breath and the physical movement, the ultimate goal of yoga practice is witnessing inner peace.
Allow time for your-self so that clarity may unfold.
Yoga is a practice intended to make you feel the breath and the body, but also to bring awareness to your mind. It attempts to create a state of being focused in the present moment, here and now.
Yoga is one of the six fundamental systems of Indian thought collectively known as ‘Darsana”. The word Darsana is derived from the Sanskrit root drs, which translates as “to see” or “certain way of seeing”. In other words, our own way of seeing or witnessing the world around us. It is about uniqueness of being; who you are as an individual. Practicing yoga can create opportunities for you to look inside yourself, which in turn, allows you to release outdated attachments.
Furthermore, another meaning of yoga is “to attain what was previously unattainable”. For example, we learn a yoga posture through the movement of the body and the breath, and find a way to be comfortable in that posture. It requires attention to the direction our body is moving and directing our thoughts towards a posture. We start with what we need to do, then we find the means for bringing that desire into action. Through self-awareness and gaining wisdom of self and others, we can each reach a point of inner equilibrium and balance. Each of these steps and process is change; it is all yoga.
